Colorado's 6th congressional district : ウィキペディア英語版 | Colorado's 6th congressional district
Colorado's 6th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Colorado. Located in central Colorado, the district encompasses much of the eastern part of the Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Area, including all of Aurora, as well as portions of the southern (Centennial and Littleton) and northern metro area (Brighton and Henderson). The district is currently represented by Republican Michael Coffman, the former Colorado Secretary of State. Historically, this was a Republican safe seat since 1983; the district regularly sent conservative representatives with large vote percentages, being the district of prominent Republican Tom Tancredo: his successor, Michael Coffman, carried the 2008 and 2010 elections with 61 and 66% of the vote. However, redistricting in 2012 in response to population growth caused the district to shrink and shift north, losing the Republican strongholds of Douglas and Elbert Counties outside of Highlands Ranch, now the main Republican voter base in the district, and gaining all of Aurora in northwestern Arapahoe County, a suburban stronghold for the Democrats. Due to redistricting, the district is now a marginal swing seat: this was seen at the 2012 elections, where Coffman barely defeated Democrat Joe Miklosi by 2 percentage points. ==History==
